Workshop 〈Shepherd’s Flower Arrangement〉, 2023

Conducted the workshop 〈Shepherd’s Flower Arrangement〉 at SAPY Grey Room, Seoul, as part of the exhibitional project 《Hyper Pierced: Interim Findings》.

This workshop analyzes the ‘Samjaemi ’'technique of Korean floral arrangement and invites participants to reconfigure and reinterpret tradition through hands-on flower arranging. Unlike Western floral art or Japanese ikebana, Korean-style floral arrangement has been relatively underexplored; this program delves into its religious, cultural, philosophical symbolism and historical significance. Together with the artist, participants experiment with flower arranging, discuss its contemporary relevance and future directions, and explore the possibilities of floral practice as part of humanity’s role as the “shepherd of Being,” in the sense described by Heidegger.
